Samsung Galaxy S8: no jack and home button?

Samsung Galaxy S8: no jack and home button?

The Galaxy S8 would be deprived of minijack plug, like the iPhone 7. If it walks so in the footsteps of Apple, Samsung would go even further by also removing the Home button of its future smartphone high-end.

It is the often well informed SamMobile that relays this information. The removal of the 3.5 mm jack of the S8 was already mentioned by some rumors last September. Samsung will only rely on a single connector: the USB-C, which already equipped the deceased Galaxy Note 7.

On the other hand, there was no indication until then that Samsung might want to get rid of its home button. Some of its competitors, including Apple, do not hide from it, for their part. To compensate for the disappearance of this button, Samsung would integrate an optical sensor directly under the slab of the S8, which would also act as biometric sensor.

The Galaxy S8 should be presented on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress to be held in February 2017 in Barcelona. For now, it would be available in two sizes: a S8 of 5.7 "and a S8 Plus of 6.2". An Exynos 9 or Snapdragon 835 chip would animate it. To support it, Samsung would install 6 GB of RAM in the device. Finally, its storage space would be largely revised upwards with 256 GB. If so, Samsung will have taken into account the remarks of its customers about the Galaxy S7 and its 32 GB of storage.
