One year after the first BlackBerry smartphone with the Android system, the Canadian manufacturer seems to continue its momentum. BlackBerry would indeed work on another Android smartphone with a real physical keyboard.
For some years, the nostalgic physical keyboards on smartphones are to the trouble. HTC, Sony, and Motorola have finally come to a halt in order to offer bigger screens and thinner devices. Fortunately, a builder populated by hardcore Canadians still resists software keyboards: BlackBerry. The manufacturer, recognized for the quality of its physical keyboards, has indeed turned for one year to Android and continues to design smartphones with keyboards.
After the Priv and its sliding keyboard, released in September 2015, then the DTEK50, without keyboard, presented last July, the Canadian manufacturer would work on a new device with a fixed keyboard. Several photos of the smartphone appeared recently on the Weibo social network. You can see a full QWERTY keyboard, but also the Android system and a screen that seems rather comfortable for navigation. On the other hand, unlike Priv, the navigation keys do not seem to be integrated directly on the screen, but they would be sensitive keys located above the keyboard.
In November, BlackBerry CEO John Chen told Bloomberg that the manufacturer was working on a new keyboard smartphone without announcing dates or features, otherwise it would be "in very short time". It should be the latest smartphone entirely designed by BlackBerry that will now turn to the software, services and management of the BlackBerry mask with partner companies.
