Apple says its interest for the autonomous car

Next to Tesla or Google, wisely stands Apple that has never yet confirmed any interest in the stand-alone car. His position cleared up somewhat today, thanks to the mail he sent to the US Department of Road Safety (NHTSA).

"The company is investing heavily in the study of machine learning and automation and is enthusiastic about the potential of automated systems in many areas, including transportation," wrote And Steve Kenner, Director of Product Integrity at Apple, on November 22.

He adds that "automated vehicles have the potential (...) to avoid millions of car accidents and thousands of victims each year and to give mobility to those who do not. "So many assets that will appeal to the Cupertino firm, which is asking the NHTSA to relax its rules on the testing of these autonomous vehicles, especially for new entrants to the sector.

It's hard not to suspect that Apple has an idea behind it, especially when the letter ends with an expression of the builder's desire to "work with NHTSA and other stakeholders to ensure that the significant social benefits Vehicles can be carried out safely, responsibly and quickly. "
