Windows 10: Update Creates Internet Connection Problems

Windows 10: Update Creates Internet Connection Problems

The latest Windows 10 update can interrupt the Internet connection. Since Thursday, December 8, Microsoft would have realized that the Windows update creates problems with the Internet connection. In Europe, several operators have notified their customers.

If you upgrade Windows 10, you may lose the Internet connection with your computer. Several users have unfortunately experienced this problem. The exact origin of this bug is still unknown, but solutions do exist.

According to some sources, this would be a DHCP error. Microsoft that works on a solution recommends restarting your computer without shutting it down physically. The connection should thus be restored with rare exceptions.

In its "patch" of last Tuesday, Microsoft has brought some patches to solve the problem. In particular, it corrected the component responsible for determining the IP address of the computer.

If, however, your computer can not reconnect to the Internet, you can consult several websites including that of the Orange operator who has put online a page dedicated to the problems of connection under Windows 10.

How to connect to the Internet after the Windows update bug?

The bug hits the owners of Windows 10 systems (and maybe even Windows 8) and Microsoft offers on its site a simple solution: restart the PC without shutting down.

On the Virgin Media community site, a well-known solution for Windows users is proposed: renew IP configuration and DNS manually. Do this only if restarting your PC has not been satisfactory.

To do this, simply go to the command prompt: click "Start" then "Run" and type "cmd". Right-click the command prompt to run it in Administrator mode.

Enter "ipconfig / release" and press "enter" then "ipconfig / renew" and press "enter". Normally, your Internet connection is restored.

If this is not the case, type "ipconfig / flushdns" at the command prompt. The problem should then be resolved.

Update: Microsoft tells us that the recommended method in case your PC is affected by the loss of Internet connection remains to restart it from the start menu without physically extinguishing it as written initially in this news.
