The 2016 holiday season has a bitter taste at Nokia and Apple. The Finnish group has launched two waves of complaints against the US group for patents that it allegedly violated in 11 different countries. Apple decided to retaliate.
After a first wave of complaints in Germany and the United States, Nokia has widened the patents base of which the group accuses Apple of violation: now there are nearly 40 patents in 11 different countries that Nokia accuses Apple of using without its authorization. Far from being let go, Apple also unearthed the hatchet.
Nokia accuses Apple of violating 40 patents
The Nokia group, which is expected to make its big comeback in the smartphone market in 2017, decided to close the year 2016 by seizing the courts around the world. In the United States, Germany, France, Italy and 7 other countries around the world, Nokia accuses Apple of violating some 40 different patents that are part of its portfolio.
According to Nokia, Apple would not have renewed a license agreement for a whole series of patents. In 2011, Apple and Nokia signed a license agreement worth $ 720 million, but patents that Nokia accuses Apple of violating are not included.
