Microsoft Beam: the update to compete with Twitch

Microsoft Beam: the update to compete with Twitch

In an era where streaming has gained considerable weight in the  market, it remains difficult to dethrone the giant Twitch. That's why, to meet the challenge of competition from Twitch and YouTube, Microsoft for its part bought the start-up Beam earlier in the year.
This latest application from Microsoft has just received a new update whose beta has just been launched.

The new low-latency technology now makes it possible to interact faster with streamers, to play live more smoothly and more comfortable to use than its competitor Twitch much less interactive and dynamic. The latency rate was reduced five times with a maximum bit rate of 10 MBPS while now supporting a rendering of 60 frames per second for a max resolution of 2,560 x 1,440.

A New Lifting for Beam

This update also brings many graphical changes. Among these, a new home page, a more intuitive interface, new logos, a new design. The new Ui allows better tracking of your friends and their favorite games, the system better handles connectivity problems and the HTML5 player replaced Flash for better control and better adaptation to different browsers.

There is still a long way to go before beating the 10 million daily users of Twitch TV, but Microsoft does intend to enter the dance with this update focused on the comfort of players and spectators. Beam is available on most platforms including Xbox Live.
