Firefox will leave Windows XP and Vista on the sidelines in 2017

While many others had already abandoned them, Firefox was one of the last resistant to continue to take an interest in old Windows XP and Vista operating systems.
Older PCs with these two systems were still provided with technical support and updates from the Mozilla browser. But everything to an end, and regarding Firefox support for XP and Vista, is coming soon.

End of Support for the End of Summer 2017

Indeed, as of March 2017, users of the two operating systems mentioned will be automatically switched to an "Extended Support" version whose updates will be less frequent, selected and possibly delayed. We understand that the support for XP and Vista will no longer have priority for Mozilla. In the middle of the year, a few major updates are planned to prepare for a complete shutdown of updates, including security updates in September.

A browser always operational but not without risk ..

Beyond this date, it will always be possible to use Firefox on old systems XP and Vista. However, the risks of security breaches are likely to be increasingly present and will no longer be corrected. Moreover, any possible further improvement will not be integrated into the browser under the said systems limiting the users to a more archaic use. For this reason, Mozilla recommends to its users to consider in 2017 a transition to newer operating systems in order to benefit better from the "modern internet".
