Xagent: Malware now attacks Macs

Until then, the Xagent malware was attacking stations equipped with Windows, Linux, Android and iOS. He was still missing a system to his list of victims: macOS.
This is now done, since the security editor Bitdefender has just spotted a variant of the virus that attacks exclusively to Apple computers.

Xagent is a well-known Trojan of security solution publishers. Malware has been running on different platforms for at least 2015 and can, when it infects a computer or smartphone, record the user's passwords and anything he types on screen, take a screenshot or Run a third-party application. According to Bitdefender, the malware has also just been discovered on Mac and is particularly virulent when installed. If it is capable of performing the same exactions as it does on other platforms, "the most important module from an intelligence point of view is the one that allows the operator to exfile the backups of The iPhone stored on an infected Mac, "also explains Bitdefender.

The Trojan horse would have been coded by the Russian group APT28, suspected of having also hacked the US elections. The group is also known as Sofacy or Facy Bear. To protect itself from Xagent, even if it is not always necessary to install a security solution on Mac OS (unlike Windows), it is better to prevent than to cure and to analyze continuously its system and all that attempts to to access.
