According to an analyst at the company KGI Securities, the next versions of the iPhone should all enjoy a wireless charging technology, despite the risks of overheating smartphones.
As the next iPhone versions are not expected until autumn, Ming-Chi Kuo, a Taiwanese analyst with KGI Securities, says the three future iPhone models will be equipped with a technology to recharge without Wire by induction. A technology that has so far always been shunned by Apple, unlike some competitors like Nokia, Samsung or LG. However, the American firm should offer this technology on the iPhone 8 according to the note of Ming-Chi Kuo unveiled by the site Business Insider.
The KGI Securities analyst however tempered the practical benefits of wireless charging by explaining that it is not without a problem for the temperature of the smartphone, which should have a glass shell: "The adoption of a Glass back and wireless charging will have a negative impact on the thermal system of the three iPhone models planned this year, with a bigger impact for the OLED model. The thermal system becomes more efficient with a glass back, compared to a metal back as was the case of the previous iPhone. In addition, wireless charging tends to increase the temperature of the devices."
Apple is expected to announce three new iPhone this fall, to celebrate the ten years of its first smartphone. One of them, positioned as the high-end model, could benefit from a 5.8-inch OLED display. The new iPhone should be announced, as every year, next September.
