IPhone 8: Induction recharging takes shape

IPhone 8: Induction recharging takes shape

For several months, rumors multiplied about the future iPhone 8, or iPhone X. The latest rumor in date is that the iPhone 8 is loading to induction. It is now a plausible track since Apple has just joined the Wireless Power Consortium.
This is a group that handles the Qi wireless charging standard. Qi technology is one of the two major competing standards in the field of wireless charging. Great technology leaders have already joined WPC: Samsung, Lenovo, Canon, etc.

Apple's new membership reinforces the recent rumors that are now increasingly credible. The iPhone 8 could therefore be equipped with the wireless charging, and more specifically the Qi standard. Nevertheless, all this remains to be confirmed. Indeed, if Apple has joined the WPC, that does not mean that its next smartphone will be equipped. The US giant has a habit of creating its own solutions.

Apple already offers wireless charging on its connected watches that use the Qi standard but with a unique support to the Apple Watch. We can therefore assume that the company will repeat the operation with its iPhone8.
