Pinterest launches Lens: the Shazam to find objects

Pinterest launches Lens: the Shazam to find objects

Pinterest launches a new feature that reminiscent of the Shazam application. Named Lens, this feature allows you to identify objects in real life and then offer you other objects related to them.
Lens is a built-in Pinterest tool that uses your smartphone's camera. The feature also relies on artificial intelligence capable of recognizing objects from a photo.

The system of this new feature is simple. Just take a picture (furniture, food ...) and Lens will propose several images related to you. For example, if Lens detects a clock, it will then offer several images that contain this clock, watches or objects related to time.

Pinterest also combines Lens with "Shop The Look", a tool that allows you to click on the objects appearing on a photo and redirects you to a link where you can buy the item.

Lens is being deployed in the US on Android and iOS.
