Apple Watch: and if you could reload it manually?

Apple Watch: and if you could reload it manually?

Apple has just filed a new patent concerning its Apple Watch, which this time describes a mechanism to generate energy by winding a reel to recharge the battery. If this patent describes a magnetic system to be placed near the apparatus, it does not seem impossible to be able to give a little boost to its watch by simply turning the crown.

The patent, published this week by the US Patent and Trademark Office and spotted by Apple Insider, describes a "magnetic charger by winding", ie generating energy from a circular motion. The principle would be to feed a motor on one side which, by driving a magnetic field, could rotate a mechanism inside the watch to generate energy by means of a coil and thus charge its battery .

The idea of including such a mechanism in Apple Watch necessarily reminds us of its crown, which now allows to navigate menus with its infinite scrolling. By connecting the latter to a coil such as that described in the patent, a user could produce energy to recharge his watch simply by turning the latter, a solution which the patent does not seem to exclude. But beyond the connected watches, Apple seems to have an interest in this technology as regards also smartphones and tablets, some diagrams showing examples of use in these devices.

Apple seems definitely to explore more and more tracks to improve the autonomy decried of its Apple Watch. Recently, the brand has obtained a patent concerning a system of recharging a watch directly on its wearer's wrist thanks to an emergency battery located in the bracelet.
