Opera unveils a new user interface

Opera unveils a new user interface

A first look at a "new" user interface that is being gestation for the Opera browser.

Last month, Opera Software introduced Opera Neon. A proof of concept that dust off the current navigation standards to open a window on the browser of the future in terms of ergonomics. With a next major version of Opera, there is no question of going this far.

As part of a project called Reborn code, version 44 of Opera for developers enjoys a refresh of its user interface. From a global point of view, it is a simplification effort.

The sidebar was moved from the Speed Dial to a separate window that can be displayed or hidden. It gives access to the main tools of the navigator with possibility of personalization.

This sidebar also provides access to the Messsenger.com site. This is the Facebook messaging service that benefits from a native integration in the browser. Later, it is planned to do the same for various social networking services. This is an idea that had been dropped by Firefox.

The graphic chart has been revised to be less specific to a particular platform. The Speed Dial as well as the tabs are entitled to some aesthetic retouches and animations more fluid. A toggle from a clear to dark theme can be done in one click from Quick Access via Settings.

This is only a first glimpse of the Reborn project, which is announced on a much larger scale. Opera Software does not specify whether the final 44 version of its browser will benefit from the first advances of Reborn.
