The market for messaging and videoconferencing tools is already well overloaded, with Skype, Google Hangouts, WebEX, Facebook or even soon FaceTime from Apple.
But a little "new" tries to make its way into this hyper competitive world. Finally, not so "new" than this, since it is neither more nor less than Amazon, the giant of online commerce and cloud services.
Amazon hopes to make a place among the tools of discussion audio and video with its new service chiped Chime. The service in question is accessible from any device in iOS, Android, Windows or MacOS. Amazon also specifies that it is possible to switch from one device to another without the slightest interruption, even in the middle of a meeting. The service exists in different forms: a version that is free, but does not allow more than two speakers at the same time. Each additional person will then cost $ 2.50 per user per month. But Amazon also markets a Pro offer at $ 15 per user per month. It allows up to 100 people connected at the same time, allowing them to manage their meetings, record video and audio, and share their screens. A 30-day trial period is available.
While Amazon is primarily known for its online store, the site has also earned a solid reputation in Cloud services. Amazon therefore promises HD video quality and a "crystalline" sound. For the time being, if the service seems to keep its promises, only a growing number of users loading the Amazon servers to the maximum can tell us if Chime holds the pace. For who has never complained about Microsoft's servers and its Skype software at rush hour, when everybody delights in talking to colleagues on the other side of the world?
