Twitter resells its mobile fabric platform to Google

Fabric, which was owned by Twitter, is now resold to Google. The Moutain View firm will combine this mobile platform with Firebase.


The mobile fabric platform goes into the hands of Google. An announcement made by its current owner, Twitter, and confirmed by Rich Paret, vice president of engineering and head of Fabric:

"Today we are entering the next chapter for Fabric. We are pleased to announce that we have signed an agreement for Fabric to be acquired by Google. And that our team will join the Google developer product group in collaboration with the Firebase team. "

2.5 billion mobile terminals covered

Fabric is a platform for creating mobile applications. This offer brings together 580,000 developers and is used on applications deployed on nearly 2.5 billion mobile devices.

In short, Fabric has quickly become an essential brick of mobile applications. Like Firebase, the offer of Google with which Fabric will be combined.

As soon as the transaction is finalized, offers like Fabric, Crashlytics and Answers will go under Google's control. Other solutions, such as Digits, will however remain a while longer by Twitter.
