Apple could reinvent its fingerprint sensor on the iPhone

Apple could reinvent its fingerprint sensor on the iPhone

The rumors seem to be clear about the next Apple iPhone. Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities, said the US giant could make major changes to its Touch ID technology on the iPhone expected this year.

Ming-Chi Kuo is known for being very knowledgeable about Apple's plans and its new smartphones. The details of his predictions were published by MacRumors. The analyst has just affirmed that the American manufacturer was going to improve its technology 3D Touch ID in order to complete the screen on board of the iPhone 8.

In addition, he added that the next iPhone could have an OLED slab and a metal structure which would modify the fingerprint sensor. Indeed, according to the analyst, Apple could switch from a capacitive system to an optical system.

Ming-Chi Kuo confirms the rumors that have been circulating for a while when he adds that Apple could abandon the fingerprint sensor in favor of facial recognition. He also says that Apple may even opt for both options.
