The Android One line will land in the US. It will offer affordable and regularly updated smartphones. When in Europe?
The Android One program could land in the United States. And with it a new generation of low cost smartphones. Objective: to win the last remaining sectors acquired to classic mobile phones and phones.
According to The Information, Android One smartphones could be offered in the US by manufacturers as early as the middle of the year. Their price would be between 200 and 300 dollars. On the menu, a clean version of Android, with updates insured for two years.
Pixel and One
Little by little, a new strategy is emerging at Google. On the one hand we find high-end smartphones offered directly by the firm of Mountain View, the Pixels. And on the other hand mobile terminals more accessible, offered by third-party manufacturers, but updated by Google, One.
In both cases, updates are provided by Google, which should reduce the fragmentation in terms of versions of Android in use. But also to solve more effectively the security problems affecting this platform. Hopefully this initiative will be replicated in Europe.
The Android One initiative was launched mid-2014. It targeted emerging countries and was intended as an alternative to the firm's Nexus smartphones.
