Researchers develop a fire-fighting battery

US researchers have managed to find what could be the panacea for smartphones: a lithium-ion battery that instantly turns off a fire. Too bad Samsung did not make this discovery with them ...

This invention comes from the United States, from Stanford University (Palo Alto, California). Researchers have developed a method to extinguish the slightest fire in a smartphone. For this, they used triphenyl phosphate, contained in a small shell. When the temperature reaches 150 ° C., the shell melts and the chemical compound is immediately released. According to the tests of the researchers at the origin of this discovery, the slightest start of fire of the battery is controlled in 0.4 seconds.

It is obvious that the apparatus, once the chemical component is released, becomes unusable, at least the time to replace the battery. But this is a discovery that could change the face of laptop security. To end the apprehension of the smartphone that catches fire on its own, as we saw last year with the Galaxy Note 7. Samsung probably would have liked to make this discovery a long time ago, to avoid The marasm in which society has sunk and from which it is now very difficult to extricate itself.
