Flying cars, autonomous moreover, are no longer really a dream. If they are not (yet) democratized, the technologies to realize them exist.
And the giant Aeronautics Airbus intends to be part of this new adventure. A first prototype of an autonomous flying car is expected to be launched this year.
This is the head of Airbus in person, Tom Enders, who announced it. The project in question, carried out by a division of the company, Urban Air Mobility, is closely interested in the single-passenger autonomous flying car. Airbus wants to invest more in these kinds of technologies, "if we ignore these developments, we will be put aside in important segments of transportation."
The project itself is known as the Vahana Project. Airbus refine its autonomous concept, with landing and vertical takeoff. The company intends to have a viable unit in production for short journeys by 2021. A first functional prototype should in any case be born by the end of the year to carry out the first tests. To be continued !
