Without doing it on purpose, Qualcomm published on its blog the press release of the Zenfone AR, a smartphone that Asus would have liked to keep confidential a few days.
As the name suggests, this phone is focused "augmented reality", but not that. It is compatible with Tango, the augmented reality system of Google, and is also certified Daydream Ready, named after Google's virtual reality platform. A double hat that we find for the first time on a single device. Until then, we had only had Tango on the Lenovo Phab 2 Pro.
Some photos of this Zenfone AR have been posted on Twitter, including by @evleaks. If its design is not revolutionary, it is easily differentiated from the rest of the range of Asus by the imposing area of its double photo sensor. Note also the return of a physical button on the front, which was no longer present on the Zenfone 3 Ultra.
The Asus release is rather terse and gives little technical information. From Qualcomm, however, it is known that this Zenfone AR will be equipped with a Snapdragon 821 processor. More information will be given to CES 2017 which opens its doors in a few days.
