The new version 6.2 (stable) of Samsung Internet is deployed on all Android smartphones and offers new exciting features.
Many of us are using Chrome as the default browser on our Android phones. The alternatives are not lacking, however. Version 6.2 of the Samsung Internet application is here to prove it.
In a blog post, Jo Franchetti, the manager of Samsung Internet Developers, lists several key new features of this browser.
Available on all Android smartphones
First of all, and this is probably the main information to remember, Samsung Internet is now available with all smartphones running Android 5.0 Lollipop or a newer version.
The new version of the application will be available for download on the Google Play Store or Galaxy Apps Store in the coming days. At the time of this article, only the beta version is compatible with all devices.
Thus, more users will be able to take advantage of other new features of the browser.
Night and High Contrast modes
Samsung Internet has a night mode and a very contrasted mode. The first reduces the amount of light that emanates from the smartphone screen while browsing the web. High Contrast Mode displays white text on a black background for easy reading.
Content Blockers
As on Safari, the browser offers a content blockers tab to download and manage its extensions to filter certain content. We are obviously thinking essentially of advertising blockers.
In addition, another option allows a native extension to protect you from trackers that record your activity on certain websites.
Synchronize your favorites
If you use Chrome on your computer, you can sync your favorites with Samsung Internet so you can enjoy it on your smartphone as well. And vice versa. In addition to this, by activating the option "Synchronize with Samsung Cloud" you will be able to access your favorites on all your Android devices.
Samsung Pay
In the US, users will be able to use Samsung Pay to shop online. In the rest of the world, it is assumed that it will take a little while before you can enjoy it.
