A robot hand to the rescue of people with disabilities

A robot hand to the rescue of people with disabilities

This is news that should reassure or even considerably help those with amputations of one or both hands, or even those who have difficulty using them because of a disability. This revolution is called the "Youbionic", a robot hand that can replace a hand and fulfill the same basic functions.

It is Federico Ciccarese, an Italian engineer, who designed this robot hand stuffed with electronics from a 3D printer, in order to reproduce as best as possible the gestures of the hand. It will therefore help amputees, the handicapped or just those who have motor problems.

Sensors placed inside the hand have the function of detecting the muscular tension in the forearms in order to understand and reproduce the nervous order that has been given. These sensors will initially send signals to the brain-motor of the Youbionic Hand, which is equipped with an Arduino microprocessor.

Thereafter, the motor has the ability to interpret the signals in order to move the fingers as required in flexion and / or extension.

The Youbionic Hand will certainly be able to change the lives of some people with disabilities from the beginning of this year 2017, thanks to a relatively affordable price: the device will indeed be marketed $ 1,200 per unit
