Take full control of a remote drone possible

Jonathan Andersson, a security researcher has demonstrated that it is possible to hack drones that use DSMX signal protocol. Unlike conventional jammers designed to momentarily break the control of the driver, this technique offers the attacker complete control over the camera
The success of the attack based on timing

Andersson called his Icarus system, it presented the results of its work to the conference PacSec Tokyo. Specifically, the idea is to steal information exchanged between the drone and the controller. If the attacker is able to anticipate the sender of the original signal, the aircraft will accept his intrusion and reject the owner in seconds. Although the talent and perseverance would hack radio controlled items, we do not know yet if Icarus succeed to control devices that use a protocol other than the DSMX. Indeed, several manufacturers such as DJI chose an alternative option.

Nevertheless, the performance of particular relevance for Andersonn authorities seeking a way to better control the drones. Because of their maneuverability, these small aircraft become formidable weapons when used by malicious individuals. Furthermore hunter drones, many tracks were already explored such as lasers or eagles.
