At a time when manufacturers are betting on augmented reality or virtual reality, Stereolabs offers an alternative. The company launches Linq, a new helmet that combines both the real and the virtual.
Linq has a design rather similar to most current helmets. It is equipped with three straps which improve the comfort of use. It also integrates a ZED 3D camera that has a field of vision close to that of a human being.
Linq is able to scan a space in real time. It can recognize and identify people or objects at a maximum distance of 20 meters. With this new mixed reality helmet, you will be able to jump, walk and avoid unlimited obstacles while being immersed in a virtual environment.
Stereolabs has posted a video (below) that gives a first look at the Linq experience. The company will launch a version for developers early 2017 that will be attached to a Linux or Windows PC. This will not be the case for the final model planned for the end of 2017.
