The facial recognition of the Galaxy S8 would take less than 0.01 second

The Galaxy S8 and S8 Plus would no longer be satisfied with a simple biometric sensor to identify the user. Iris scanning and facial recognition would also be on the program.

Samsung would have decided to enhance the security of its high-end smartphones. The fingerprint reader would still be there, but now relegated to the back of the device, with the Home button. This gives the slab the possibility of expressing itself freely over the entire front surface.

Comes face recognition, a technology that would also equip the next generation of iPhone. According to The Investor, the iris scanner would be too slow, so Samsung would have decided to add a facial recognition system to its S8. At the source of this information is the Korea Economic Daily, which reports the words of an anonymous employee of Samsung. The latter explains that the tests of the digitization of the iris are not conclusive. It is quite different for facial scanning that works in less than 0.01 seconds.

Already integrated in the Galaxy Note 7, the iris scanner had not had time to make a date, because of the problems encountered by the latter. Such a device is more difficult to circumvent than a biometric sensor, hence its primary interest. Will Samsung retain both technologies in its S8 or will it just facial recognition in addition to the biometric sensor? Response on 29 March at the official presentation of the S8.
