An iPhone 8 concept imagines how the edgeless screen could work

While the rumors on an iPhone 8 with a plastic Oled slab are insistent, the designer Vianney the Masne already imagines a practical way to take advantage of this screen without edges of 5.8 ".
In a concept, it introduces a dark mode that would optimize energy consumption. The idea is simple: use black pixels whenever possible. Indeed, these are simply turned off to give a black color unlike the LCD display.

In order to gain autonomy, developers will have to think about the design of their application using this mode. Vianney le Masne has already unveiled some illustrations with the application music, phone and even the home screen whose edges darken. In addition to offering an optimization with the OLED screen, the designer also reveals the rendering of a possible screen without borders of the iPhone 8. The images show that the front camera and the loudspeaker occupy a minimal space leaving the slab Occupy the remaining surface.

For now, Apple has not reacted to these rumors. The existence of a dark mode on iOS 11 remains uncertain as the iPhone 8 is scheduled for the second half of 2017.
