Meri: Xiaomi's first smartphone with a home processor

Meri: Xiaomi's first smartphone with a home processor

After the drones, in-ear headphones, connected bracelets or virtual reality helmets, the Chinese Xiaomi could soon unveil its new smartphone, the Xiaomi Meri.

The Chinese manufacturer Xiaomi is in the process of developing a new smartphone. Until then, nothing exceptional. However, in the image of Huawei with the Kirin processors, the Xiaomi Meri would be the very first device of the manufacturer to benefit from a home-made SoC, the Xiaomi Pine Cone. This Thursday, the site Gizmochina has indeed published a picture of this future smartphone, but also results of benchmarks of its future chip.

At first glance, the Xiaomi Meri would look very much like an iPhone 6s or HTC 10 with a brushed metal back, bars for antennas and a brighter part at the top and bottom of the device. It would also be available in three colors: gold, pink or black. The smartphone would benefit from a 5.46-inch diagonal display displaying 1920 pixels per 1080, a ratio of 403 pixels per inch. Finally, more interesting, the published photos allow to see the results of its processor on the benchmark Geekbench 4 with a score of 3105 in multicore. The smartphone would thus clearly not be a lightning war, thus doing less well than the Nexus 5X LG and Google released a year ago, or the Honor 5C sold less than 200 usd.

According to GizmoChina, the Xiaomi Meri could be marketed as of 12 December next year from 1499 yuan.
