Japan wants to build the world's most powerful computer

According to the latest Top500 ranking of supercomputers, China currently has the most powerful supercomputer in the world.
It seems that Japan is determined to dethrone the winner because the country is preparing to manufacture an even more powerful supercomputer.

The first supercomputer in the world, Sunway TaihuLight has 93 petaflops of computing power. Japan plans to create a computer with 130 petaflops. Thus, the Japanese supercomputer would be capable of executing 130 million billion operations per second.

To realize this project, the Japanese Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry plans a budget of 20 billion yen (about 167.6 million euros). This supercomputer will be made available to companies, industrialists and students. It should be completed by the end of next year.
