The reason advanced by those responsible for blocking is the eSIM. "The advantage of having a device equipped with an eSIM is that, with a single software, users can choose an operator and a data plan. But in China, the new system raises the issue of user authentication by operators and regulators, "according to a report from The Wall Street Journal that states that the blockage occurs just after the formalization of the offer of a data package for the Apple Watch by China Unicom. Apple has confirmed the suspension after being notified by China Unicom and the company ignores, for now, the restoration of cellular functionality of the Apple Watch Series 3 in the Middle Kingdom.
