Google is in the process of developing a new version of its range of Google Home smart speakers. According to a new report, this future model would be equipped with a screen and allow Google to compete with the Amazon Echo Show.
According to new rumors, sources have spotted a new Google Home in preparation at the American giant. The device would for the moment be codenamed "Quartz" and be equipped with a screen. It would be the first connected speaker with screen for Google. "Quartz" would allow everything that is already possible with the classic Google Home as well as additional features. The user will be able to watch YouTube videos, launch a route with Google Maps or make a video call.
Google is not the first to offer a connected speaker with screen. Amazon has indeed been the pioneer with its Echo Show. However, it's important to note that Google recently removed the YouTube service from Echo devices after Amazon removed the autoplay option. In addition, Echo Show users were no longer allowed to subscribe to YouTube channels.
Google has not yet confirmed this news which is still at the rumor stage. It will therefore take a little longer to ensure that such a device is actually planned.
