Samsung test itself batteries Galaxy Note 7

Samsung test itself batteries Galaxy Note 7

The exact cause which determined overheating the Galaxy Note 7 smartphone is still unknown, investigations are being conducted in the United States and South Korea. But new information has surfaced concerning the test procedures of the battery of Samsung.
Other smartphone manufacturers use third laboratories

According to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung did not use the third party laboratories to test the batteries inside its phones, but prefers to do this in its own facilities. Other smartphone manufacturers use a third of the 28 laboratories to test the batteries in their phones. These laboratories are certified by the CTIA in the US, trade international industry group that represents all sectors of wireless communications. The tests are necessary to ensure compliance with standards set by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE. The tests are important because they can determine if a battery tends to overheat during regular use or when driving phone calls. It is also essential to determine if the battery warm during charging or under conditions that involve high temperatures. It seems that Samsung has decided not to use third party certified lab and conducted series of tests in its own facilities.

Samsung is the only major phone maker conducting tests for internal CTIA Certification

A spokesman for Samsung confirmed the situation and added that the company did not find any problems in note 7 original and replacement, while performing internal testing procedures. Last week, several reports have indicated that Samsung engineers are not able to reproduce problems with phones Galaxy Note 7 and therefore, they do not know exactly what caused the battery to overheat and catch fire. A representative of the CTIA said the group has certified more than 1,500 found inside of phones made by different manufacturers. Samsung is not the only one who conducts internal battery tests, Motorola also preferred self-test before making smartphones available on the market.
