Yahoo and massive data leak: the authors would not be bound to a State

Contrary to what the US group, the authors of the massive data breach affecting 500 million accounts would be more related to banditry as a government agency.
In late confirming a massive theft of data on more than 500 million accounts in 2014 perprétré the Yahoo group highlighted the fact that the perpetrators were likely related to a state or a government organization.

Was it to minimize its responsibility by highlighting the "super powers" of hackers responsible for data leakage? While CEO Marissa Mayer is directly challenged by the senators of the US Congress on the management of this case, which would have left the data of American citizens (and others) in nature for two years knowingly and that a first negligence complaint is made, that a company says hackers in question are not specifically linked to a State.

The company InfoArmor studied part of the database constituting the gigantic leak containing names, dates of birth, telephone or postal code numbers, according to the Wall Street Journal.

he findings are that hackers identified as the Group E, sold the database three times, including once to a government agency. But they themselves would be more related to the field of banditry, selling data to other hackers or fraudulent advertisers that hackers acting on behalf of a government.

This famous Group E followed by InfoArmor for three years and its members are probably from Eastern Europe, understands InfoArmor. He is involved in several massive data theft in recent years, including LinkedIn, DropBox or MySpace.

After selling the entire database in 2015, hackers have changed tactics and tried to extract valuable information from the base to sell them at good prices. The passwords in this database are encrypted InfoArmor but had no difficulty in deciphering 8 of 10 accounts tested in one day, the 2 accounts resistant with probably more complex passwords.

Finally, the extracts from the database listed by the hacker Peace (or Peace of Mind) detected during the summer and that led Yahoo to conduct an investigation without doubt come from the initial massive leak obtained by the Group E.
