iPhone 7S is not the first smartphone to get rid of the jack port and it will probably not last. Rumors suggest indeed to think that the next Samsung Galaxy S8 might be too devoid of jack. Apple recently introduced the new iPhone 7 during the Keynote, highlighting the abandonment of jack port for the Lightning port. This innovation has been much ink between partisans and opponents of abandoning the jack port. However, Apple is not the first to say goodbye to the good old jack. Before him, at least three Android smartphones have already taken the plunge.
After the official presentation of the iPhone 7S and the iPhone 7S Plus, many are wondering what the next smartphone to get rid of the 3.5 mm jack. According to Digital Music News, there is a good chance that the next smartphone is the Samsung Galaxy S8. It even seems that Samsung thinks to create its own port instead of the USB-C connectivity. Like the Lightning Apple, Samsung therefore have its own system. I bet that in this case, Samsung is also expected to provide an adapter for users to use their usual helmet.
We’re not sure if this is such a smart move or a feasible one as it would basically require many headphone manufacturers to get on board with the idea, as well as other Android OEMs to agree on this new standard. In any case it’s probably best taken with a grain of salt for now, but what do you guys make of this rumor?
