Sandisk has unveiled a new SDXC card with a capacity of 1 TB, at Photokina in Cologne. Currently available models max out at 512GB. This product is still in prototype stage and the American company did not specify the details of the price and release date.
A necessary evolution for SD cards
Today, video in 4K, 8K and 360 multiply and content suited to virtual reality also will experience a similar development. Now these files are heavy and this feature limits exchanges. Thus, increasing the capacity of SD cards became necessary and Sandisk has reached a new level with this model to 1TB. This product will delight those with a laptop with a small storage capacity.
Although Sandisk did not release prices, it is estimated that it would be rather high. In comparison, the Extreme Pro SDXC 512GB is offered at around 400 euros. Nevertheless, trends in recent years have shown that competition and technological developments cause a rapid decline in costs.
