The phone and road safety do not mix. These electronic devices have caused many accidents. For pedestrians who have too much nose on their screen, the Netherlands and some European cities have set up quite unusual traffic lights.
But there is no guarantee that drivers will resist the temptation to take their smartphone while driving. Samsung has found the solution: an application that responds to text messages instead of the driver.
It automatically detects if the user is driving or cycling through the interpretation of sensor and GPS data. The application is currently being tested in the Netherlands and offers several types of answers: "I am driving, so I can not respond at this time", a personalized message, or even an emoticon.
According to a US study, sending an SMS to the wheel would increase the risk of accidents by 23. Reading a message requires an average of 5 seconds. At 50 km / h, the car will have traveled 75 meters while there are possible obstacles on the road.
