Google Earth gets a new look with many improvements

Google launched Tuesday a new version of its free digital atlas "Google Earth". A reworked version that uses artificial intelligence in particular.

Google Earth is modernizing. Google launched Tuesday a new version of its free digital atlas, using artificial intelligence in particular. "It is a product that speaks to our deepest values in terms of educating and putting information at the disposal of people," says Rebecca Moore, a Google Earth official, relayed by AFP.

"A new perspective." The group explained that they wanted to provide "different filters to let you see the world" and "open your mind with new stories while giving you a new perspective" of the places you visit from your smartphone or computer.

Interactive stories. This is reflected in the "Voyager" option, which allows the user to access interactive stories told by experts about the places they are flying over. A feature set up through partnerships with BBC Earth, Nasa, the television show "Sesame Street" or the Jane Goodall Institute, known for its work to protect chimpanzees.

Artificial intelligence. The new Google Earth also uses artificial intelligence to provide users with "knowledge maps" giving them access to online information about the mountains, countries or sites they virtually visit. "Everything Google knows about the world, you can know," says Sean Askay, an engineer of the company. Other places of interest to users will also be offered to them through artificial intelligence.

3D always available. 3D will always be present in this new version of Google Earth. The user will be able to see, according to the angle that he wishes, remarkable sites like the Grand Canyon or the castles of the Loire.

Soon on Apple devices. Finally, how to access this new Google Earth? Nothing's easier ! Unlike previous versions, where you had to install software on your device, this version will be accessible directly from a web browser. Currently compatible with Google Chrome and Android, Google Earth will soon be available in versions suitable for Apple devices as well as for other internet explorers.
