Maryland, an American county, has set up an application for cyclists to prevent them from taking too dangerous streets.
If the number of cyclists tends to increase in recent years, it is probably because it is a sport that keeps it healthy, but also because it is a green means of transport. However, as more and more people travel by bicycle, the number of road deaths in the United States continues to increase. Not all streets were designed to allow cyclists to move around, creating dangerous situations.
To facilitate the life of its cyclists, the city of maryland has implemented an application in the form of a map. This map shows all the streets of the city with different colors depending on the degree of risk. To create the map, the city will have taken a year using Google Street View. It also collected a number of data, including traffic congestion, average speed, and so on.
Since its launch last year, the card is a real success and is used by many cyclists to move around the city.
