Released in the early 80s, the Commodore 64 will return in a miniaturized version on March 29 for 70 dollars (or 70 pounds).
First announced last September, the new C64 will be available from March 29 as announced by Retro Games Ltd. The company also revealed the list of games that will be delivered with the machine. Best of all, it's not just for gaming, it's also a fully functional computer that supports the BASIC programming language and works with USB keyboards. This allows it to distinguish itself from other retro gaming machines, such as the NES Classic mini and other Nintendo SNES Classic mini, both of which are designed for playing only. The console comes with a joystick and many built-in games.
A new miniaturized version
For his comeback, 35 years after his first outing, the C64 becomes THEC64 Mini. It can be plugged into any modern TV via its HDMI port, while users can play one of the 64 classic pre-licensed games. This includes developer games like Epyx, Gremlin Graphics, Hewson, and The Bitmap Brothers, with titles like California Games, Speedball 2: Brutal Deluxe, Paradroid, and Mission Impossible.
The Commodore 64 is considered one of the first consumer computers to democratize the video game, along with Colecovision, and well before the Amiga 500 or Nintendo NES.
