Bullitt arrives at Mobile World Congress 2018 with the S61, a new CAT smartphone tailored for demanding professionals and do-it-yourselfers.
Unlike a traditional smartphone, you should not be too careful about setting up a hardened model. Most often, we end up with the minimum union. No change with this S61 that inherits a Qualcomm platform with a Snapdragon 630 associated with 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. A 16-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera complete this basic configuration concealed under a 5.2-inch Full HD display.
But as Bullitt reminds us, its CAT range is designed for professionals. Moreover, its S60 has sold mainly to construction site staff, garage owners, farmers or in the emergency medical environment. The strengths of the S60 and the new S61 are actually dissociated from their gross performance.
In addition to being waterproof and shock resistant (with a drop of 1.8 m on any surface), the S61 is equipped with sensors never seen on conventional phones. It has a FLIR thermal imaging camera (HD) whose accuracy has been increased and the contrast improved. It can thus differentiate each heat source specifically up to 400 ° C. These images can also be broadcast in real time via Facebook Live.
Another feature of the S61 is its measurement of air quality. Its dedicated sensor can detect the emanations of solvents, paints, cleaners and even those of humans. A necessary tool according to Bullitt so that the user knows the environment in which he works and can thus save himself the irritation of the eyes, the nose of the throat, the headaches or some other disease because of his exposure to certain products. In this sense, the S61 analyzes the quality of the air every two seconds and warns the user of an alarm if it becomes harmful.
The S61's latest gadget, laser assisted distance measurement. It works by using the back sensor of the phone. It is functional up to 10 meters and its tolerance threshold is plus or minus 1%. It will not replace a dedicated device, but may be useful for roughing the job.
In its mobile toolkit, Bullitt also incorporates a 40% more powerful torch than conventional smartphones flash. A 4500 mAh battery completes the list of its specifications.
Presented at the Mobile World Congress, the S61 will be available next June.
