Qualcomm will refuse a $ 103 billion buyout offer!

This is not yet official but the semiconductor manufacturer Qualcomm should refuse an offer of redemption formulated by its competitor Broadcom. Despite the very large amount of the offer Qualcomm, which provides high-end smartphones and tablets with its Snapdragon platforms, would not have been convinced by the proposal.

This offer of 103 billion dollars (including debt) would not be up to Qualcomm, but it is true that the company is growing thanks to the success of its components and innovative projects. The offer was therefore $ 70 per share and it was after consulting the shareholders that Qualcomm considered this amount to be insufficient.

Broadcom, however, could, in case of refusal, propose some of its directors to strategic positions of the board of its competitor in early December. It would be an attempt to break through in order to force Qualcomm to negotiate. However, Broadcom claims not to be closed and could submit a new offer, of course more important.

For its part, Qualcomm remains committed to the purchase of another player in electronic components, NXP Semiconductors, for $ 39 billion and is still in dispute with Apple for the payment of license fees for its modems.
