Essential Phone: a first decisive update

Essential Phone has been designed to stand out from the current terminals, despite its rather rudimentary features. The company, however, has made a huge change with a new software update.

Current smartphones usually ship similar components. However, manufacturers are trying to convince users with more and more diversified features. This is what the manufacturer of Essential Phone, founded by Andy Rubin, the father of Android, wants to propose.

Essential Phone's Build NMJ20D software update brings various features and fixes to the smartphone of Android's father. Among these new features is the recognition of gestures via the photo sensor of the device. The feature is not new in itself and users have been able to appreciate it especially on the Pixel and Pixel 2 Google. The feature allows to reveal the table of notifications, among others.

The update was released yesterday and an announcement was made on Twitter. In addition to the integration of the new feature, the new update also provides a fix for the WPA2 KRACK vulnerability that caused a lot of concern to users weeks ago. The Essential NMJ20D Build Update weighs 74.8 MB and the installation process can be done in OTA, in the background of the device.
