Google wants to teach younger people how to fight trolls and hackers

The Moutain View company launches an educational program in collaboration with teachers, security organizations and videographers.
The goal is to prepare children for Internet-related problems. Named "Be Internet Awesome", the program introduces the notions of phishing, harassment on social networks as well as other security problems. To fulfill its mission, Be Internet Awesome offers a playful video game, called Interland, in addition to a series of courses.

According to Google, the educational program is in line with ISTE's international standards, which include more than 100,000 education actors around the world. It includes several sections punctuated by role plays, quiz series as well as other exercises. Children will discuss how to limit sharing personal information on social networks, avoid phishing and have pattern behavior online. The program also raises awareness about the impact of social media on their future and the existence of false web pages.

The video game, Interland, will serve mainly to support the course. There will be an adventure in the colors of Temple Run addressing the theme of the password as well as a puzzle relating to publications on the Internet. Be Internet Awesome is available for free online.
