UK law will guarantee minimum speed for Internet access

A bill currently under consideration in the UK Parliament should allow every citizen to have access to the Internet with a minimum speed of 10 Mbps. This law must be passed in early 2018 with an application from 2020.
Internet service providers (ISPs) will therefore have two years after the vote to make investments to modernize their network to comply with the law.

British Telecom is the first to have officially committed to providing the entire UK population with high-speed Internet access as soon as possible. The authorities must have thought it necessary to pass a law in order to force the operators to act in this direction and they will be punished if they do not respect it.

Such a law does not yet exist in France, operators simply claiming that they provide broadband but the connection speeds of each vary much too much according to several criteria. Some have fiber optics, others have a classic ADSL and some have an Internet with an execrable flow because of the distance.
