Smart Glow, future Samsung functionality should replace much more than the single LED notifications. A bright ring back of the phone and would notify the user when new notification, but also to assist to take selfies, to inform about the weather or even on his health.
A ring selfies
With Smart Glow, Smasung wants to go further than simple notification LED as the light ring and would not miss a selfie taken with the rear sensor.
