Seabubbles unveils new marine vehicle

The French startup Seabubbles revealed its new prototype of a marine vehicle which has embarked its first passengers on the Seine. During the demonstration, the speed was limited to 12 km / h, but this electric boat "flying on water" can go even faster thanks to a concept that has proved itself.

The idea of the Sea Bubbles was mostly inspired by the French co-founder Alain Thébault of the startup with the Swedish Anders Bringdal. The concept derives from the hydrofoil initiated by the Breton at its 20 years. It allowed to break speed records thanks to a system that levitates the boat over the water. Seabubbles' objective is to tackle the problem of urban traffic by exploiting river networks. Ultimately, the startup should offer marine taxi services in major cities around the world. Miami, Singapore, London, San Francisco, Dubai and Doha have already expressed their interest as project funding continues.

The startup notably raised 10 million euros from the Maif. An amount that will be used in part to build a second prototype that can carry up to 12 people and to recharge docks equipped with solar panels.
