Essential, the Andy Rubin company, has just unveiled several of its products, including the Essential Phone and Essential Home. It is also known that its devices will be equipped with the operating system specific to the firm baptized Ambient OS.
Andy Rubin said the Ambient OS will be open source. Remember that the CEO of Essential is also the co-founder of Android. And if Android has become one of the most widespread mobile operating systems, this is partly thanks to open source. It is therefore obvious that Essential's OS follows the same philosophy.
If the open source allowed the success of Android, it also fragmented and divided the platform. But for Ruby, it is instead one of the strengths of the operating system that he intends to reproduce with the Ambient OS.
