Google Voice will soon be upgraded?

The Google Voice app that seemed to have been abandoned by Google could well be upgraded very soon. This is at least suggested by some clues.


Some users were surprised to see a banner at the top of the Google Voice site saying "The new Google Voice is here". This headband actually referred to a link that unfortunately did not lead anywhere. However, a Google internal person confirmed that a Google Voice update was in the works.

If Google Voice is not widely used in France, it is more popular on the other side of the Atlantic. It is a service that makes it possible to make calls to fixed and mobile phones and SMS, much like Skype or Whatsapp. It is available on the web and on smartphone.

An update to Google Voice could have an impact on Hangouts since Google Voice is integrated in the Web and mobile version. To know exactly what will change, we will have to be patient and wait until the company wants to formalize the update.
