Facebook launches instant games on Messenger

In an exciting turn of events, Facebook announced that its users will now be able to play games while on the move. A new service called Instant Games is now available for those who use the Messenger and Facebook news feed on mobile and on the web.

A new cross-platform HTML5 game experience for users

According to Facebook, the new cross-platform game experience Instant Games HTML5 is designed to allow users to easily discover, share and play without having to install new applications. If you want to try out the new games available you should know that you can access them via the new game controller icon that was embedded just below the box where people type a message. Depending on the game you play, you will have access to rankings and group thread conversations that will allow you to challenge and compete virtually everyone on Messenger. As mentioned earlier, Instant Games can be accessed via the Facebook news feed. A bookmark of dedicated flash games is available on Facebook, where people can instantly view all of their favorite titles.



Available in 30 countries

For now, Instant Games is available in 30 countries and it should be compatible with all devices running iOS 8 or later, as well as with Android 5.0 or later. Developers who want to include their games in Instant Games can register on the dedicated site. Facebook also notes that Instant Games is opening up "a unique opportunity for game developers to reduce friction for people to discover and instantly enjoy playing games without having to install new applications. With the benefits of using a single version that will work in Web mode, developers can easily publish their titles in Instant Games across multiple platforms. It is also worth mentioning that Facebook messages will also include the instant call-to-action call to help drive distribution and discover new games.
