Nintendo 2DS XL: a New 3DS XL at $ 150, but without 3D

Nintendo 2DS XL: a New 3DS XL at $ 150, but without 3D

Nintendo will launch a new portable console on July 28th. The 2DS XL will offer all the advantages of a New 3DS XL, except its 3D screen. The entire catalog of the latter will be compatible.

Next to a good commercial start of the Switch, its console of living room, Nintendo does not forget the mobile sector. Rather than take the risk of pushing a new generation, the Japanese giant prefers to capitalize on the 3DS and multiply the declensions. This is a good thing since the installed world park already has 65.3 million machines, of which 7.27 million have been sold during the last fiscal year.

The 2DS XL is not a new machine. It actually mixes the lines of a New 3DS XL with the truncated features of the 2DS, 2D version of the 3DS, released in 2013.

Since the three-dimensional image of the 3DS had not convinced the general public (many deactivate this option), launching a 2DS XL makes quite sense. It gains a foldable design that protects its dual screen, unlike the original 2DS. In addition, its displays have been enlarged for greater comfort. The secondary display has an NFC area, allowing compatibility with the Amiibo.

It also adopts the keys introduced by the New 3DS, namely a second stick (C-Stick) as well as two buttons Z (ZL / ZR) on its rear edge.

The 2DS XL will be available in two livery for launch: black / turquoise and white / orange. Its European price was not communicated. Overseas, it will be $ 150. You can not risk too much on 150 € in France. Note that it will be supplied with a stylus, a 4GB microSD card, six augmented reality cards and a charger.
