Qualcomm wants to solve the biggest problem of Bluetooth headsets

The wireless headphones (full wireless) are the new trend of the "helmets" audio. Only problem: the technology does not seem completely developed and Bluetooth connection bugs persist on several models.

Qualcomm wants to upgrade the Bluetooth headsets with an update of its TrueWireless Stereo technology that will allow headphones to automatically switch between primary and secondary roles to balance power consumption and increase their autonomies.

A new mode and new feature in view

A new TrueWireless Stereo Plus mode will also allow phones to connect directly to both headphones. This would replace the odd connectivity chain where only one listener connects to the mobile and then uses a separate and simultaneous connection to connect to the other headset. The Snapdragon 845 processor will also feature a separate audio streaming feature. Multiple Bluetooth audio connections in perfect sync will be possible. This feature increases the number of headphones or speakers.

Currently, new features are only available on the latest chips in the QCC5100 series. Of course, it is up to manufacturers to build helmets that exploit these properties. Qualcomm is hopeful that headphones using its new TrueWireless Stereo technology will hit the market in the second half of 2018.
